Another outstanding aspect of the product is that it is tinted by mixing a gallon of exterior latex paint into each Encore kit making color selection a matter of simply choosing among all the colors offered by Sherwin-Williams, Olympic or any other manufacturer.

Sometimes referred to as acrylic glass, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE has been sold under many names, among them are Plexiglas, Acrylite, Lucite, and Perspex. Plexiglass was the name used by the Rohm and Hass Company in 1933, when the material was first brought to market. PMMA is transparent and extremely durable, shatter resistant, and resistant to environmental effects. In addition to floor covering, balcony, plaza and parking surfaces it’s used for automobile instrument panels and the lenses covering lights, lenses for glasses and in appliances. It’s also used for windows, skylights, ballistic protection, signs & displays, bathtubs, LCD screens, furniture and medical and dental applications. An important advantage of the material is that it is ready for traffic within hours.

JVS Building Services Report
This report details the process of preparing the surface of a 517 square foot entry plaza and applying polymethyl methacrylate under the supervision of the Soprema Corporation technical representative. Because PMMA is a catalyzed system it cures very rapidly. This makes it a good solution for areas that have to be back in service quickly, which was the case here. The work on this plaza was completed over a weekend so the building entrance adjacent to it was available for use Monday morning. The catalyzed material generates heat as it cures so it can be applied when the ambient temperature is low. This project was completed in Philadelphia in the winter so water based products and any other that is susceptible to freezing was not an option.
